Course Details
Why choose this course?
The eSports industry generates £3.5billion per year and is continuing to grow. This course includes a breadth of transferable skills that will enable you to experience a wide variety of eSports topics and take an in-depth look into how the industry works. With links to Business, Marketing, Enterprise, IT, Nutrition & Psychology this course will equip students for a variety of avenues at University. The qualification is aimed at learners who want to progress to employment in the eSports industry and would suit learners wishing to pursue apprenticeship or higher education routes. The course is endorsed by the British eSports Association making it recognised to employers within the industry.
Course Content/Main Topics
Learners will complete 4 mandatory units, all internally assessed which will cover:
- Introduction to eSports
- eSports skills, Strategies and Analysis
- Enterprise, Entrepreneurship in the eSports Industry
- Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for eSports Players
Learners will then choose three optional units aimed to strengthen their understanding of this course and provide transferable skills useful in other subjects. These units might include: Producing an eSports brand, Games Design, Business Applications of eSports in Social Media, Shoutcasting, eSports Coaching, Psychology for eSports Performance, Nutrition for eSports Performance, eSports Law and Legislation or Launching an eSports Enterprise.
Careers and Higher Education
The course is perfect for students wishing to pursue higher level courses or degrees in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Games Development and many more.
Qualification
BTEC Foundation Diploma (equivalent to 1.5 A-levels)
Assessment
The course is assessed through a combination of practical observations, portfolio evidence of assessment, case study work and reports.
Entry Requirements
Grade 4 in GCSE English and Maths.
